Sara completed her Ph.D at Caltech in 2024, using GC-CIMS to study the kinetics and products of bimolecular peroxy radical reactions using both chamber experiments and field measurements. At UCLA, Sara is an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow studying the mechanism and atmospheric impact of the peroxy radical self-reaction, using a combination of IR action spectroscopy and atmospheric chamber experiments. When she's not in the lab, Sara likes to play bluegrass fiddle, go on hikes in the San Gabriel mountains, and play with her cat, Remus.
Shareen graduated from UC Irvine with a BS in chemistry and then worked in industry for a few years before starting graduate school at UCLA in 2023. Some of her interests include fashion, trying new restaurants and her cat, Bo.
Cooper received his BS in chemistry in 2023 at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. His research interests involve exploring the complex gas and particle phase chemistry of Earth's atmosphere. With a better kinetic understanding of previously unexplored reaction pathways, he hopes to bolster atmospheric models and support efforts in combating climate change. In his free time, Cooper loves exploring new music, thrifting with his partner, and playing competitive Mario Kart!
Rebeka completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont in 2023 with a BS in Chemistry and English. Her research interests include the characterizing and off-gassing of smoke exposed materials, usually Los Angeles Fire Fighters' personal protective equipment (PPE), building new instrumentation to study gas partitioning dynamics, and kinetic modeling. In her free time, she enjoys reading, labor rights, and going to Costco!

Rose graduated from Emory University in 2024 with a B.A. in Biochemistry and a minor in Environmental Sciences, working under Dr. Monika Raj. Newly ensconced in UCLA, her research focuses on electrical conductivity of aerosols in a joint venture with both the Kavner and Barber labs. Some of her interests include video games, dungeons and dragons, and going to conventions with her partner
Daniel is a fourth-year undergraduate with a concentration in Physical Chemistry. His research focuses on isolating and discovering new pathways in the oxidation of aromatic hydrocarbons. Currently, he is investigating toluene's H-abstraction pathway. Outside of the lab, his hobbies include making song remixes, playing chess, and thinking of a third hobby.
Tim is an undergraduate researcher in the class of 2027. His research interests include studying atmospheric mechanisms using computational tools. In his free time, he likes to shop on ebay, play video games, and drink boba.
Arthur is an undergraduate at UCLA (class of 2026), who attends classes, likely eats lunch, and sleeps when he can. We appreciate him very much.
Congratulations to the class of 2025 and Barber Lab Undergraduates Faye Deal, Ella Ghazinouri, and Nilya Moushiabad for graduating from UCLA Chemistry and Biochemistry
